Dr. Vihra Barova is a culturologist by education, completing the master's program in Cultural Anthropology at the Department of History and Theory of Culture, Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski ”(2004). She was a doctoral student at the Ethnographic Institute with a museum at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and specialized in social anthropology at the Max Planck Institute, Halle, Germany as a fellow of the Marie Curie Doctoral Program in Social Anthropology (2008-2009). Winner of the first prize of SIEF (International Scientific Society of Ethnology and Folklore) for the best dissertation of a young scientist in ethnology (2011). Since 2018 she has been an associate professor at the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore with the Ethnographic Museum at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

Dr Bavova has worked on a series of projects dedicated to youth subcultures and cultural differences. In recent years, her interests have focused on strategies and ways of using natural and cultural resources in mountain and semi-mountainous areas threatened by economic marginalization (in the Middle Rhodopes and the Middle Fore-Balkans), in particular on attempts to combine climate and natural resources. production, tourism and festival culture. In this context, she studies culinary traditions in small towns. In this direction are her latest publications related to the production, presentation and consumption of food as heritage: Barova, V.
